This is the famous formatter problem. There are 2 methods of repair.
1. Take it to a authoriezed service provider and have the service note repair done if the serial number is in the proper range.
2. The strange way, and yes I know this is not is the norm but I have fixed 3 printers and 11 JetDirect cards.
Remove the formatter from the printer. Take it home and preheat your oven to 350 degress F, no I do not know the conversion.
This methed works and what do you have to loose.
