    HP 4250 - Counter clear

    Hello,

    I have a HP4250, it has reached 200,000 copies. I
clear the maintenance message, but I do not remember
    what to do.

    Help me please.

Wouldn't that be a Maintenance Kit required? Order & install the maint kit. From memory it would be the fuser, transfer roller & maybe a few feed rollers.

HP 4250 service mode pin number: 09425004 (maint kit reset).

Yes I mean that it must change the maintenance kit. But the printer works, yet. I wish I just remove the alarm message.
There is no number on the printer. Just "ok", "stop", and "menu".

How to go back into the menu? And how to delete the message?

Its always advisable to install the maintenance kit when due, but its completely your call.....your machine.

Go to the 'service' menu on the control panel, follow the prompts and enter the pin number I gave you earlier. That pin number is only for that model. You will need to press left/right/up/down.... whatever the certain sequence is to get there, but you should see a service menu. This will get you into the service mode to clear the Maintenance count, just like you would do if you had actually replaced the kit.

I haven't touched a HP for years, but seriously dude, if you cant work it out.... theres something wrong .

        Its freakin' easy!

Again.... its your call not to install the kit. I'd do it if I were you.

I agree with Wazza . There are those who don't replace it. Frankly, I believe they give the rest of us good techs a bad name. Don't be cheap, replace it. There's my 2 cents. Now if you want to clear the message until you get a kit, that I understand.

To do that you can do the following procedure:

          Turn the power on.
When it starts to count the memory, press the check button and hold it until all 3 LED's come on solid
Press up arrow to go to New Maintenance Kit
Press check button to reset the counter

            Thanx for the info Prntrfxr.

            I have a question.......

I've always been under the impression that all HP's from the 4100 series onwards need the service mode pin number to reset the maint kit, or to change default settings. I have pages of documentation on this. I know about the basic methods of resetting maint counts on models before the 4100 series, but was always informed that HP made things harder by adding service mode pin numbers to prevent just anyone from servicing them. Why does the pin number for service mode exist, when you can reset maint counts like you have mentioned?

Thanks alot, just curious..... I dont work on them, just chip in with any info I have. Your method seems better than what I have.

What I suggested is a temporary thing to bypass the message. Sometimes it resets it, but usually it just makes the message go away temporarily. Which is good in his case because it will allow him to print. When he finally changes the kit he should do it by the method you indicated and he'll be able to see how many pages he was able to get out of the old one before he had to really change it.
