    Hewlett-Packard Laserjet M5035MSP, adf question.

Haven't seen machine yet myself. ADF is "causing problems" according to the customer. HP Germany wants Euro 700.00 (USD 980.00) for repair after they already repaired the machine itself for another Euro 750.00 last month.

Customer is "slightly disturbed" and asked me for help.

Are there any known issues with the ADF in this machine? Any hints? Is it wise to touch that Gem or should I run away screaming?

The M5035MFP is relatively new. Consequently, there isn't too much about them. They are basically P4015's with an ADF feeder. It would help to know more about the problem and you won't know that until you go onsite.

Some known ADF issues with this machine:

IT Resource Center forums - M5035 MFP ADF issue - screenshot attached - This thread has been closed

HP sells an ADF maintenance kit that has the rollers and sep pads if jamming is an issue. Q7842-67902 is the part number. The approximate yield on this part is 60,000.

Of course, HP has had issues in the past with their ADF units. See any post for 4345mfp and the M4345mfp. This machine is the most similar to M5035MFP.

        Thanks prntrfxr.

It seems that a sensorflag has been broken.

I think its position 33 in the picture. There is no part# in the manual for it. Pleeaase don't tell me it cannot be ordered separately or??

It's unlikely, but I'm checking with my parts ordering guy. The only other option is getting a used one. I'll see about checking into that, too.

                Re: Hewlett-Packard Laserjet M5035MSP, adf question. *** SOLVED ***

There's a kit available from HP with # Q7841-67901 containing a reinforced sensor flag, tension spring and detailed instructions.

Takes around an hour to install. That solved my problem.

                Thanks for all your input.

... I vaguely remember asking my parts guy about it. He said he'd check and I think I forgot to follow up. Sorry about that. I guess it was another "trying to do to many things at once" error.
