4730: any way to continue B/W printing when color cartridge runs out?

We were using the Office Depot remfg color cartridges, and had "cartridge cannot be read" (or similar) error on the two spare Cyans we had.

So, the printer wouldn't print *anything* until we drove to the store and bought an HP OEM cartridge and installed it.

It would've been nice to just tell the printer to ignore the message. I Googled and Googled, and tried all the advice out there, to no avail.
