[Dead] HP P3005 Formatter Board lock ups etc

    Whew!

5 x HP P3005 into the workshop this week with dead Formatter boards. (and it's only Wednesday!)

3 of these returning after having their boards reflowed / baked about 9 months ago.

Anyone having better results with reflows / baking methods?

I'm big on purchasing repaired boards not baked ones, but some people swear by the baking.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

I have baked 11 P2015 formatter boards. 1 has since failed. 2 are still in use 2 yrs later. I have baked close to 20 jetdirect cards 2 have failed since then.

Instead of spending the customers money on formatter boards try baking. There is nothing to loose.

For how long do you bake one board? Can you explain process?

I used to 'bake' jetdirect cards with hot air, but it lasted 1-2 months.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees f with a cookie sheet in the oven. Put the board on a cookie sheet and bake for 8 mins.

The board must have the componet side up. Never bake a board with a battery on it.

                  Thanks for the info.
Use to work like you described, but seems I had bad luck.
