Take off front cover, disconnect fuse cables and route them out of side cover, remove side cover, remove gears. The front cover will more than likely break as it is plastic, but there are companies (like the one I work for) that sell replacement covers. Of course, you could just make it easy on yourself and order a remanufactured fuser on exchange. Make sure you get a company that uses OEM upper and lower rollers, though.

The gear I'm asking about is not the gear in the fuser unit itself. It's the gear that the fuser meshes with on the inside.
          Thanks!!!
I've removed the fuser; it's held in by 2 screws then slides out the rear side. No covers need to be removed.

Sorry... Remove left cover, remove formatter, remove motor, remove 2 screws, make sure fuser is removed and push gear drive toward the center of machine. Remove drive asm. The coupler gear and the dual gear that drives it needs to be replaced or replace the entire drive asm. You will need retaining ring pliers to remove ring that secures gear shaft if you are replacing the gears.
