4100mfp and adf problem

after i have the 4100mfp powered on for 30 to 60 minutes i can no longer use the adf as it does not recognize any papers waiting to go through the adf.

to resolve this i can power cycle the machine and then i can use the adf again for the same 30 to 60 minutes.
after a few power cycles, the 'on' for the adf gets shorter.

does this problem have any connection to a formatter problem or an adf power supply problem.

if not, any suggestions as to where the problem might be.

I think your on track with the adf power supply. It would be my first choice. If all else is working besides the adf.
