    HP Colour LaserJet 2605

    I have a customer with an HP Colour LaserJet 2605 and when she prints magenta it is faded at the edges. The other colours are fine. I tried a new IU with the same result. I am not familiar with this model so if anyone can shed some light on this problem it would be appreciated
    I have attacheded a sample print.
    Thanks

    Just to clarify you replaced the magenta toner cartridge? That would be firat Then I would look at magenta scanner slit glass and clean.

      I think you may have attached the wrong sample copy. The document that you attached appears to be a fax reception with many line errors, causing flattening of the text. It's black & white, no magenta. Let's see the real sample. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          If you've tried a couple different cartridges and always get the same effect there are only so many possibilities.

          If you emergency stop the machine on one of those large coverage magenta pages, is a lot of the magenta toner still on the transfer belt? If yes, perhaps there is a transfer issue. It sure would be nice if you could swap in a transfer belt for diagnostic purposes.

          The laser optics may be dirty.

          That's about it. =^..^=

            90% chance of being dirty laser mirrors/lenses. There is no cover/shutter for these in this machine. It is an involved thing, because you will have to remove the laser scanner (never get it clean enough as it is). To do that (because sm will not tell you how), remove covers (all of them), remove formatter and dc controller (be careful with ribbon cables and observe static safety procedures), remove rear plate that those board attach to (move cable guide out at top to reach screws beneath them, no need to remove cables entirely), and laser scanner is secured by 2 or 3 screws facing you and 2 on the bottom under leaf springs. Hold it up to light and use lint free swabs to clean. Reassemble and test.

              Spammer! There are no nozzles on the LASERJET 2605.

                Thanks prntrfxr;
                I told customer how involved it is to do this and she is going to get back to me if she wants it done.
