HP6030 rotating images

Hi Guys,

weird fault on a HP6030 we have on site where when you scan or copy and the image seems to change so thats its shown A4r on the screen cutting off parts off the image. Initially we were told that it was also happening when they printed to the machine (think customer speak for "we want another machine") so we thought a main body issue. This is what we have swapped with another machine to fault find......

formatter (different firmware levels),
HDD,
Dc controller,
full scanner assy (boards n all),
doc feeder

we were in the hope that once swapping one of the above parts the fault would switch to the other machine but they have just phoned back to say the same thing is happening. Between 2 of us this has never happened while been on site but have been shown examples (sorry none on me).

Have you asked the user to demonstrate what they are doing when the fault occurs?
Can they reproduce the fault it for you?

Hard to know what is happening, but it could be something as silly as the customer placing the original on the platen glass at the wrong end, or incorrectly into the ADF?

Check the Firmware version.

Update here if it is an old one.

Hi Brett,

The fault is very intermittent and does not do it when on site. Been through all the stupid faults it could have been at the early stages and it not any of those unfortunatly. Changed formatter board from the original to a formatter with older firmware and then back to the original formatter with the latest firmware. No change but again, it doesnt do it while on site.

Since I posted this they have been complained to the boss they want another machine which I think the reason for making it such an issue. They have a ricoh mpc6001 10 yards down the hall and I think they want one of those!!

You did mention that you swapped Formatters in the earlier post, I must have been half asleep when I suggested Firmware...
Swapped the Scanner as well I noted....

Must be IC issue. (Idiot Customer)

I would like a new Ferrari rather than my Ford, but as much as I complain, my boss won't buy me one!
