HP 4250 Skewing down the page.

Other than a faulty registration assy., what could cause the image to skew down the page? I tried different trays and different fusers to no avail. Anybody ever had this happen? They are using legal forms and it gets worse as it goes further down the page. This box has only 217,000 on it.

Very unusual. I've only come across one or two HPs that have skewed over the years, and each time it's come down to warped plastic parts. Either a frame member, or part of the registration assembly. I think you're on the right track.

It's not much fun to change out that reg assy. =^..^=

I agree. There really isn't anything else. It's consistent as can be. It's not random. It's the same every time. I'll be changing the registration assy and see what happens. Thanks for the input.

The only one I've had do this was the registration assy also. A piece had bent on the assy, probably from pulling or prying by the customer, that allowed the left side bushing to come out and everything then was skewed to varying degrees.

You may also have label adhesive in the paper feed asm area. Either behind the Tray 1 p/u asm or on the actual paper feed rollers. It may be just enough to retard paper motion slightly on one side more than the other but not enough to cause an actual jam. Be careful about moving the flag around and pay close attention to the flag's position if you decide to move the paper feed asm or you'll have bigger problems than skewing.

Not that I'm aware of. The laser just aligns on three plastic pins and screws down solid to the frame. It certainly would be a fussy job to shim it. And it wouldn't really solve the paper skew issue. =^..^=

Was not sure blackcat. I know some of the lexmarks have slots and the laser can be moved this way and that for adjusting skew. ??

No way to adjust 4250 and unfortunately you have to take the main gear drive off to remove the registration asm. That's the way they designed the machine and 85% of the time skewing is caused by it. You can check and see if there's adhesive in the paper feed asm, but more than likely you're going to end up at the registration asm. The machine is worth the repair.
