If you're going to work on this one, make sure to have a good vacuum cleaner with you because this model sprays in the inside of the machine with toner. HP never really solved this issue. Can't you talk your customer into a new machine? This one is also pretty ancient.

I worked on tons of these when I worked for HP. It was always the Magenta cartridge that had problems.

In its time this printer was the best stand alone color availible.
So long as it was not abused it worked well.

When pricing parts for the beast also compair the the price of a new color printer.
It is no longer cost effective to repair a HP CLJ 4500 series.

But the stories I could tell about some of the repairs and customers.

When I hear the Kachunk, Kachunk, Kachunk of a carousel machine I just want to run the other way. I think this machine dumped more toner in the bottom of the machine than made it to the paper. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

My boss bought a truckload of these about 3+ years ago with the cartridges still installed. (Skittles, taste the rainbow. If you don't, just blow it out with compressed air and you will not only taste it, but look like some too. Needless to say, I am a little familiar with them. In my personal opinion, all carousel machines should be pushed off a high cliff. The engineer who thought spinning 4 cartridges of microfine toner really fast was a terrific idea, needs to be shot. They didn't learn but made a whole series of machines after this one with a carousel. Having said that, this model was probably the best carousel HP has made.

Are you having a problem with it?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
