what is the actual coverage of ink on your page.....as far as i'm aware...most manufacturers quote their cartridges to last "x" amount of pages....but at 5% coverage, which is virtually nothing at all, so the more print or even worse graphics on the page, the less you'll get out of your cartridges...
Tip for the day; Treat every problem as your dog would.....If you cant eat it or f*ck it....then p*ss on it & walk away...

so you are having issues with a compatible hp cartridge. there is nothing wrong with saving money, compatibles are one thing and remunufactured is another talk with the company you purchase from not on an open forum. it like i say you can get any answer to any question on the internet and you just pick the answer you want to hear! compatables can be chinese clones. were as a remanufactured is usually built local by some one triing to make a buck and save you money.....most hp carts determine your yeild based on coverage you are using run the cart tell its tells you to replace it then see what you how many prints you did and what was your average coverage was

This is a tech bulletion board. Its not for non techs asking questiong you could look up in the owners manual, yet the good natured techs freely give their advise. You sir are abusing the privelage. I would be careful as to how many nonsensical posts you start. Just sayin...

You are right. On the status page, there should be % coverage used for individual colours. Based on this usage, the printer reports an estimate on how many pages (and %) are left. If from now the % used is less, the % left could be more than 75%. Not sure how many pages printed before it works out the % left. When the printer calibrates (when switched on), it uses toner. Again, not sure after how many before the stats are updated. I suspect it is 10 pages. Then again with compatible cartridges...we never know how much toner is inside and also how good is the chip used. I have seen cartridges with 30% left on status page but ran out of toner. The weight of compatible toner and OEM toner cannot be compared. The compatible seems to produce a thicker layer of toner than OEM for the same image.

Very true. However, many OEMs' have ended warranties to vendors. Some do not offer any warranties and others out of box failures only (5-7 days). I was loyal to OEM products and the warranties they had, but once the warranties ended, so did my loyalty!
