LOL...translation...change the cartridge. Shrieking was likely the drum.

Black pages are charging issues usually. So you check in this sequence:

charge roller/corona (In this printer all of that is in the cartridge)
contacts from charge roller to LVPS (In this printer, check the contacts on the cartridge, in the machine toner cavity, HVPS.)
DC Controller (In this machine, suspect the DC controller before the HVPS.)
          HVPS

BTW... I had a tech working on a 9000 have black bands on the page in the direction of print. He didn't know where they came from, the minute I saw what he was doing, I knew. He left the top cover off to test and exposed the drum to light in a couple of areas. Leave the cover on while you're testing.

My shop was trying out a tech who had claimed he had been doing tech work for 12 years. He was looking at an HP LJ4 producing black streaks and ask me what I thought it could be. I was speechless. I said nothing and walked away. Did I mention 12 years?

I hate when the customer says " It can't be the toner I just changed it!"

                Well......... change the f'n toner!

It may not be the cartridge, but always check it first. The guy who left the cover off the 9000 is a good tech. One of the best I've seen, but sometimes when you've had a hard time with one issue and another issue comes up, you tend to make it more complicated than it really is and ignore the obvious.
