I have no color image on any of the color drum units, but the black looks great. Thinking this could be a HVT problem. Any other ideas?

I believe those have an issue with the carriage not putting the cartridges in place correctly. I could be wrong, you need to speak to prntrfxr. The greatest enemy of knowledge isn't ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge. Stephen Hawking -
Re: HP C3505
Suggestion:
My first thought would be defective transfer belt (ETB) (NOTE: Make sure menus dont have black & white printing only selected). Then check other things. Since this is a consumable item, try changing the belt first.
Why I suggested the ETB:
Transfer belt has a solenoid that allows the color transfer rollers to be positioned in the down position. It allows the printer to switch from color to black and white only. Color transfer rollers up = color printing. Color transfer rollers down = black and white only. Failure of the solenoid means it cannot switch and can therefore be stuck on black and white.
Supplementary Information:
This is a change by HP from the 46xx and 55xx series which performed a similar function with alienation plates, alienation linear gear, and alienation motor drive asm.
This move allows HP to tell people to change the ETB when this problem occurs, thus fixing their own problem without calling a tech out and reducing down time. Also gives the perception that problem is a faulty consumable rather than a faulty printer. (This is the same reason why HP put the drum, toner hopper, cleaning blade and waste toner bin in an all in one toner cartridge.) WIN WIN for HP. The 4700, 4730, & CP4005 ETB's work the same way as the 3000, 3600, 3800, and CP3505's. Part number for the belt is RM1-2752 (This is the same belt as the RM1-2759 only it has a duplex guide on it. It can be removed with 2 screws, so if a company wanted to stock one part instead of 2 they should stock the RM1-2752.)Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".Comment
