    HP 4700N

HP 4700 over driving cassette two (2).....throwing 60.02.00 codes....

Replaced the Lift Drive Assy and DC Controller. Fill cassette half way and no problem, any more than 250 sheets it codes out....

    Re: HP 4700N

I've got one reference to 60.02 on an HP LJ4350. You decide if it might apply to your situation:

"60.02" error message. Tray #2 lifter motor not functioning. The lift motor is supposed to float freely on a central swivel. This one was bound up due to malformation of the plastic mounts. Remove the outer plastic bushing and with a rat tail file oval out the bore (in this case downward) to allow the lift motor to float on its spring loading.

That's all I've got, and no particular memory of the situation. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

lift motor has a spring on it and it floats back in forth no problem.... I changed it out anyway just in case, but I still have knocking noise because the tray lift is over driving... changed out the dc controller thinking its not receiving the single from the media sensor.... I can fill the cassette half way and it works fine.... going to order new media sensor and sr9 (tray 2) switch .,.. you cant test the media sensor - there is no test mode....go figure...

      New Parts ordered
      Photo interrupter WG8-5696-000CN
      Paper detection assembly RM1-1692-000CN

      thanks....

        Re: HP 4700N

Is this sensor an upper limit sensor, or something like that? That would make sense. I am not aware of any sensor tests on this model, but if you can find a way to tuck a wire into the sensor connector, you can monitor the upper limit sensor.
        There are three connections:
        ground = 0vdc
        5vdc supply = 5vdc (duh)
        sensor output = variable

By trial and error find the sensor output connection. On a properly functioning limit sensor you can expect the usual 0/1 logic condition: 0 = < 3.25VDC, 1 = > 3.25VDC (ideally, but rarely 5.0VDC)

Most of the time it's such a PITA to get close to this sensor, it's just easier to replace it and hope for the best.
