Is there a way to do internal prints that would only use single color? I want to print just one color at a time, like just cyan, then the others. I have looked through the service manual and cannot find anything. I also looked for yields, such as fuser, ETB, rollers, etc.., did not find that either. Thought there would be a maintenance schedule. Is there one? Or am I just blinded by the Monday gremlins? Anyway, I sure could use some help on this.

Re: HP Color LJ 1600 quality issue
If I remember it correct there is a Switch on the Main Board that will print a test page wich include verticals thin lines of each color on full page, maybe helps you to find the problem of your printer...i bet there is a color missregistration?Defects are simple, our mind is complicatedComment

Re: HP Color LJ 1600 quality issue
I spoke with a more experienced tech about printing individual colors and he told me that the HP Toolbox, which is software on the PC, had ways to do test prints to help troubleshoot. I have not tried this yet, but thought I would put the word out there. The quality issue I had was resolved by replacing all cartidges. Looks like new.Comment

Re: HP Color LJ 1600 quality issue
Alternatively, I created a document for each colour with different horizontal strips (about 2 cm wide) of shades of the colour (dark to light). This could be used on different makes of printers too! If the same problem appears on different coloured documents, the problem could be transfer belt or fuser. Note that a problematic cartridge could also cause quality print issue for other cartridges (seen this before too). Good luck.Comment

Re: HP Color LJ 1600 quality issue
I hate these machines. I am betting the laser is at fault. two color for each laser. If you print out a config page you will see the colors at the bottom... each color should stop in the same place so all colors should be aligned on the chart even the metric scale should be perfect with no lines overlapping. I fought the registration on one for a long time til I replaced the laser. I could do an nvram and it would be alright temporarily for one or two prints. also I tried to let it adjust itself as you can set that on or off. You will have to run and test registration anyway. You need to go to level 2 in the menu to set it so you can swap cartridges as well and it wont care. Level 2 is your answer. Perform the tests and adjustments there first, if that doesnt help I say laser, then adjust again. sometimes it takes up to four tries of it adjusting before it will dial in.Comment
