    [CQ] HP DegignJet 90000 fading

    The Magenta color starts to fade out after about a foot. It all looks good after running print head recovery . You can see it in the bars on the side of roll start to fade out. All the media setting are match up. They don't use it a lot this time of the year but said they are running the daily service on it. I look though the service manual but can't find anything besides purge the heads which has been done. Mongo

      How much life is left on the printhead? Kind of sounds like it is worn out.
      Non OEM ink can hasten print head failure.

          All the print heads are at half life and was change middle of march. They are not using oem ink, but its been that way for over 2 years. Its in a warehouse that is not temperature control very well. Mongo

              I guess you might try replacing the magenta ink, as it could have been damaged by temperatures at that place. If you do that, make sure it is some that was just ordered, as if it is some that has been stored at that location it is likely to be just as bad as what is currently in the machine.

                  I went in and flush out everything ( I would like to know what in those solutions to make them so expense ). They ran around 60 feet after that and all seems fine. Thanks Mongo

                      I'm not sure why the ink costs so much either. But if I had to guess it would probably have something to do with their ability to create that many extremely small droplets reliably and then mix together on a variety of media correctly to create the colors accurately.
                      Still, I don't know for sure, so maybe not.
