    [Jamming] HP Color Laserjet 3600dn

Have a Color Laserjet 3600dn that gives a "jam front door" message even when there is no paper present. The feed assembly in the tray will jerk when the solenoid fires to rotate feed tire, but tire does not rotate. This all began when the paper tray got stuck and was removed and re-inserted by someone with little printer knowledge. I can see the feed motor turn, gears rotate, but get no movement at the feed tire itself. I think a gear is broken, but could not determine which one. I would be grateful for any advice on what to look for in the drive unit. Thanks.

It's surprisingly common to have the plastic pickup shaft twist right off. Occasionally HP will print the part number right into the plastic in microscopic type. If you have a part number (three numbers, dash, 4 numbers xxx-xxxx), often you can get that part separately. The parts manual will not help you. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If the printer boots with error then most times it is a stuck sensor flag or sensor being obstructed..

I had once a nasty code because of a piece of plastic ,ripped by the door movings, of an arm witch engage the cartridges.
In your case take apart all from pick-up side and the problem reveals.
