There is nothing you can do. Buy a new formatter board or a refurbished one, if you go refurbished you'll need to change the serial number and total page count to match your machine through the service menu.

This Machine has no removable flash card.

Hi We have a HP LJ CM4540 also made firmware update, now dead and hanging with initialisation session.

does Anyone know if this machine has flash card in it?
Think I have problem to install update firmware by now? Anyone a solution?

Have no usb port on the unit direct near the network-connection, only at front -at display.

I've used this procedure in the past on a few different models:

It won't work on ALL models that have USB.

....(a 2420 where the customer tried to upgrade--it now needs a formatter, because the firmware is wired into the board)

I've successfully recovered from firmware crashes on the 24xx series. You need to purchase an old 32MB (yes, MEGAbyte) CompactFlash card and either have access to a working 24xx or you can download the firmware and do it that way, but, it's a lot harder and I didn't have to do that. I've got a "click-by-click" procedure documented.
