HP M3035 "Install black cartridge" message

    Good afternoon,

I working on a HP M3035 that displays the "Install black cartridge" message. All the contacts in the toner compartment look good and we have changed toner cartridges. We have replaced the HVPS PCB (RM1-3758-000) and still no joy. Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

For what it is worth. you might try a new black cartridge. Especially if you aren't using OEM supplies. It doesn't happen that often, but every once in a while this time of year in North America the truck hauling supplies around could be parked in the hot summer sun long enough that the toner in the cartidge can get cooked to a rock.

Maybe take the covers off and check the other end of the cartridge contacts. Also make sure the contacts are not only there, but in the right spot. Sometimes contacts can get moved and it's not real obvious.

I have one of these pigs on the table right now. The problem you have is a small white lever on the left side. Remove the cartridge and look. It will be loose and flopping around. Compare to the other colors. Easy to replace. However, these are bad about breaking the bottom of the lever that opens the cartridges door, when the printer door is shut. It is on the right side. That one is a major bitch to change.

M3035 is a b&w machine... at least the one I worked on today was, and all the other ones I worked on. Like the P3005.

I put the old HVPS back in the unit. This is the engine test print, it is the same for both the new and original HVPS.

My mistake. Didn't read the model number clearly. Just noticed the exact same message.

So it's not saying "install cartridge" anymore? I take it this was the original problem?

The original problem, which was the "install black cartridge" has been resolved. I add a piece of tape between the grounding lever contacts (RC1-4065-000CN and RC1-4066-000CN). Now the high voltage is in contact with the contact on the toner cartridge body. My issue now is PCQ (see image).

This spot where you added the tape... same side as the one where the prints are blacking out?+

                            Assuming you've changed cartridges...

You shouldn't have to tape anything. I have a feeling if you dug a little further, you'd find a broken plastic piece or something. Seems like I had to replace one of the cartridge guides or something on one of those machines because the cust forgot to pull the seal off a new cartridge, and then forced it into place. I remember that even after ordering the piece, I had some trouble with that part going back together. If you have to tape it, it's wrong.

i encounter this problem always, maybe you should check the cartridge ground; it could be loss contact or dislocate....
