HP CM6040F MFP 10.10.00...not the Cartridge

    Hi Guys,

New here and I've come seeking advice!

I have a HP CM6040F MFP with a 10.10.00 error (memory supplies) , which is an error relating to the e-chip on the black toner cartridge. The error occurred on a genuine HP cartridge, so I replaced it with a brand new genuine HP cartridge and the error still remained.

I've since replaced the board with chip reader/contacts on (cartridge interface board RM1-3283), as well as the Memory Tag PCB (RM1-3585-000CN) and the error is still here.

I'm now at a loss to what is the cause of this damned problem. I've searched high and low on the internet (and the service manual!) to no avail! The next logical step (in my head, at least) is to replace the DC Controller.

Has anyone here have any advice to offer?

    Many Thanks

    Gavin

Seems like the p4015 had a similar problem, and the answer was to update the firmware. When that failed, as it did one time, the answer was to replace the formatter. But I'm a little sketchy on it because it was a long time ago... and it was a different machine.

I think your right next step is the DC Controller

Still waiting for the job to be approved, printer is sat in bits next to my work bench getting in the way! Hopefully they approve it soon.

I ran into the same problem a while back. Customer had been using 3rd party toner cartridges (CB380A) with no problem. Suddenly it would no longer recognize the black cartridges. The fix was to switch to genuine HP toner (CB390A). No problems since then and for some reason the genuine CB390A is cheaper than the 3rd party CB380A was. The customer still uses 3rd party color toners, but the black has to be genuine HP.

Think he said they were genuine right?

This is not likely a formatter issue. If replacing the e-reader, contacts and associated board didn't resolve the issue, the next step is to look into the DC Controller. The DC controller deals with this part of the machine and many others. If there is a problem with anything in the machine, the DC controller generates the error and sends it along to the formatter which stops the machine and reports the error to the user. I have seen the formatter cause issues like this, but it is exceedingly rare.
