In my 36 years as a tech I find the current crop of HP printers to be one of my greatest disappointments in a manufacturer. For the past 3 years it seems as though everything with the HP logo is just one more piece of crap. Just try to get a formatter to last more then a year in these boxes.

I've tried everything. High quality surge protectors, dedicated power lines. Same thing. Formatters, power supply boards, high voltage power supplies, everything just fries. I'm currently offering to take back the few I sold just to save face with my customers. Thank goodness most of them were sold to my clients by HP so I don't have to eat those.

Obviously this is just one man's opinion. You shouldn't shy away from a product based on only one persons feed back. And in the long run it's HP's fault for spoiling me with the 4200/4300/9000 series. If you only have a half mill on yours, keep them! They aren't even broken in yet.

Same maintenance interval on all the machines.Swing plates are a lot longer to replace on the mfp series, they do suffer from formatter/firmware issues more, the mylar shield in the adf assembly needs regular cleaning/replacement. I have not found them to be too bad but they do have their hang ups. 500k on a 4200 or 4300 is nothing got some in the field have clocked over 4 million with no real dramas. If your customers are happy with them I would suggest keeping them.

Ditto that. The 4000/4050/4100/4200/4300/4250/4350 are all rock solid, and such simple machines, that you can't go wrong. Still plenty of parts and supplies available. Keep them forever if you can. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

i never understand how a company like HP just doesnt get it..
after setting the bar from the hp4 to the hp4300 series and just dud after dud...
thats one thing i cant deal with and that is flakey electronics..
went though it with minolta copiers in the late 80s to 90s ..
