HP Z6100 Calibration Cancelled due to paper type/LED Problem

    Hello Guys.

There's a shadow in my print. I tried to do Head Alignment, but it is cancelled immediately after the first pass of scanning with an error message at the end saying: Calibration Cancelled due to paper type/LED Problem.

Anybody knows to what this points to? Is there a problem for the line sensor in this?

    Thanks

It may just be the media you're trying to align on. Try doing the alignment on basic bond media; HP Coated Paper is good.. preferably something non-glossy.

      Hi,

I have tried using a Matt Paper, then tried an HP Photo Gloss, and an lately tried ordinary bond. All shows the same error at the end.

Could you give me any more idea how to approach this?

      thanks much

Then it's likely the line sensor is either dirty, or faulty. It's on the right side of the carriage assembly. I find it easiest to remove the screw and lift it out to clean it. Just use water and a paper towel. If cleaning it doesn't help, it's easily replaced. It's $29 from HP, plus shipping. CQ105-60130

Also make sure the encoder strip is clean. Just pinch it with a damp paper towel and move along its length. If you have Simple Green it works very well. Just don't use alcohol because it will cloud the plastics.

            hi,

I tried to clean the Line Sensor, the encoder strip with a Damp tissue but still the same thing happens.

If there is a problem with the Line Sensor, shouldn't there be also a problem detecting the paper? As i think, it is the one responsible for detecting the media loaded?

Could a possibility that this could also be cause by one or two printheads?

The line sensor creates 4 colors of light; it could be that one of the LEDs is out. If you run the line sensor calibration, it will report values for each color. If one is radically different, then you probably have a bad line sensor.

In the setup menu, press the down and cancel buttons together to get into the service menu. The calibration of the line sensor needs to be done on glossy paper.

That may be it - "one of the LEDs is out". I already did try that Line Sensor Calibration(forgot to mention) and its giving me a FAIL outcome.

And now, out of nowhere, im back to the original problem which is Maintenance Cartridge Missing, it just started showing again.

Guess what looks for the maintenance cartridge? The line sensor.

Asked the guys to have a check on the machine. They themselves diagnosed - problem with the Line Sensor. Replaced that one and it is ok.

                    Thanks again man.
