    HP LaserJet 4250tn

This machine, HP LaserJet 4250tn, has a code that reads 13.20.00, and the message, Jam in tray2. Though I have not found any paper that is causing the jam in tray 2. However, it will tell me it has a jam regardless of whether the tray is inserted in its slot or has been removed. In my experience, the machine will usually tell you to replace the paper tray after removing it. I'm uncertain as to why this one isn't. Even after removing the tray I couldn't find any paper, and I even air cleaned the switches. The problem persists though. How can this issue be resolved? Thank you for any help given.

Did you check all sensor actuators in that area? I'd pay attention to paper sensing actuator (flag), you'll find that one near pickup/feed assembly.

Feed a test chart through the paper path all the way up to the transfer roller.

My guess is that you have a microscopic paper scrap in the pre-registration area.

Machines of this era will boot to Ready, even if the pre-registration sensor is actuated. Only when it attempts to print does the machine discover that one of the sensors is blocked.

The 13.20.00 is a fuser jam condition, but that doesn't mean that you won't find the paper scrap or broken actuator anywhere in the machine. Like Corder suggests, I would visually identify and check every paper sensor and flag for obvious obstructions, dust, or broken flags. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Have you checked the sensor behind the tray 1 pickup assy? Bit of dismantling for that one.

Yes, you guys are correct. Sometimes its a piece of paper but they have a new style of sensor lever. The old ones could get hung up or "Stuck" Use a flashlight and use your tweaker screwdriver and push it outward to release it. I also have an good paper from HP (Unusual for HP) regarding 13.20 errors. Enjoy!

I would look at the sensor behind tray 1. We see these stuck or out of place often

Sorry. Should have said I second checking that sensor. [emoji6]
