tray two constantly says jam in tray. tray 1 and 3 work perfectly as long as tray 2 has no paper in it. as soon as paper is put in tray 2 and you close the tray it gives a code 13.01.00. if you open and close that tray a few times the error may go away, but after a few prints it will give the same error. i changed all the feed tires in tray 1, 2, and 3. i replaced the tray 2 paper feed solenoid. normally i dont have any trouble with these machines but this has me stumped.

Ye that's strange...Id just take feed mechanism apart check the spring that provides pressure to feed mech. and also the sensor flags.

Re: hp 4250 tray 2 jaming
My wife says swap tray 2 and 3 trays around. It doesn't really make sense to me but neither does your issue.
If i remember right 13.01 is usually a late jam, such as paper didn't get to the sensor in time. 13.02 is usually the flag stuck behind tray 1. So it's odd the machine goes right into a 13.01
Like others have said I would remove the right cover and observe. You may also want to remove the tray 2 pick up gear assy and clean. I have seen a bunch of problems there. I would also remove mp tray and check the sensor behind that.
Now are you sure that tray 2 is not trying to pick up paper and getting the 13.01? Have you disconnected all cables and just tried paper path tests from each tray?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: hp 4250 tray 2 jaming
There are torque limiters in the tray (the separation tire snaps onto it) that get gummed up and won't let paper pass at the right speed. Changing the tray positions takes that out of the mix. If you have 2 different capacity trays, you can swap the separation tire AND torque limiter between trays to see if it follows the limiter or not. Good luck! ThomComment
