Why do you need to do that?
My first guess would be no, but without knowing why you need to do that I could be full of crap. I don't like being full of crap, it's uncomfortable and I smell weird.
So please tell us why you need to do that.
    Thanks.

Since these cartridges are All-In-One units, you're not going to get any image on the paper without a toner cartridge, and most likely the machine will net even let you try. On some of the older HP's you can set electronic switches to allow interchanging of cartridges, but the full compliment of cartridges (4) must be installed before anything happens.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

go to diagnostics menu and go to disable cartridge check, should allow running with cartridge removed, and or swapping cartridge position. used to use it on older hp color printers to test for toner cart issues, laser or transfer belt. At least hp still has it in newer color printers.

                  Great flip crib!
Open floor plan, modern plumbing, outhouse and well pump.
                  Kidding of course.
I really dig old historical stuff. Looks like a vintage 1940's petrol station from the layout though some have suggested an old
saloon where Hickok and the gang would tip a few. lol
Wish I had an old beat-up CJ in that pic though, would really do it justice.
                  Thanks for the comment.
