    MS811 Error 31.60: Imaging Unit error

    I have a client with a 31.60 error that showed up on an imaging unit that was working perfectly. They tried replacing it and the error stayed with the machine. Swapping with a unit from another machine gave the same error and the one taken out of the wonky machine worked fine in the working machine.

    I initially tried a firmware update, which didn't help. Ordered a new imaging unit chip reader and pulled the machine apart and replaced it: still nothing. The only odd thing I've noticed is that on powering the machine off and back on, it is able to recognise the unit when it first comes online but around the time that it seems like the fuser gets to ready it no longer recognises it or the toner. Reseating does nothing to change it so I'm thinking something power or board related? Connections to the controller are obviously seated as it's been taken apart and put back together with no change.

    Imaging unit is genuine, toner that the customer has is third-party but I did try it with a genuine cartridge and no change at all. I'm more of a Ricoh guy but one of my clients has a pile of these in a few departments where space is more of an issue.
