    Copier Installs

Hi everyone, as is one man band I can repair and service pretty much everything, I'm a half decent salesman and have grown my business from scratch to now and the one thing I always struggle with is installs and copier moves. I simply cannot pick the machines up myself. I now need to find a solution, i preferably don't want to buy a large van with a taillift and wondered what everyone else uses, is the anything that will help me load a copier into an estate car or small van by myself?

    Cheers everyone

    Re: Copier Installs

I've been moving & installing copiers for many years using a small van & car.

It does of course depend what models are moving? obviously a transit type van with a tail lift means you can usually work on your own, however if you don't want to invest in a large van, you can spilt most copiers into two parts & fit them into a small van, you would however need a hand lifting them in & out etc. You would struggle getting any medium sized copier in an estate car, I only used mine for desktop printers, finishers & DF's
For carrying colour machines up stairs (assuming customer doesn't have a lift) I used to strip down the machine, remove all drums, transfer unit, fuser etc to reduce the weight.
I have seen some guys load a copier complete into the back of a small van using a ramp, they basically line the ramps up to the copier casters then take a huge run up & push it in! I however wouldn't be happy using that method!
Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

U can modify this design to have a bigger base and eyelids to take straps. works well for stairs. I normally use a hired hand.
        Whatever

Have 2 vans one with tail lift and a staircrawler taking up to 300kg but there are days when stair crawler is not possible to use. Then its a strip and big muscles. Ahh and knowing the laws of physics to your advantage of course. You ll be surprised how easy can a quarter of a ton be handled........sometimes

I use a 6x10 trailer and am able to roll most copiers in/ out by myself. If the mfp's weigh more than 200lbs, I work in conjunction with some help.

why don't you contract a moving company for big machines and stick the bill to the customer?

We use vans with tail lifts have done for years for deliveries and collections
if stairs are involved and its a big machine
companies in the UK like Relay do a delivery/relocation service they have all the equipment for taking machines upstairs
we have used the a few times and never had any problems
