I went on their site. I still see the 450i etc. as machines still in production. Are they a year or two behind because of covid? Suddenly the c458 doesn't appear to be as old since it's only one generation behind.

Probably covid & supply chain issues. They can't fulfill orders for the "i" series so why would they roll out new models. Plus they didn't / don't have toners for the machines and another reason no hurry to sell new models.
