konica paper tray konica pf602 tray 5 does not rise

    i have a konica pf602 used on a c7000 machine.

tray 5 does not rise, tray 4 is okay.

How can i do some test to figure out what the issue is so i can fix it.

you can swap the whole feed assy from 1 tray to the other and see if the issue follows the feed unit. if it does you have a bad or blocked sensor or even a broken actuator.
also hold the tray in with a little pressure, see if it lifts.
      any message on the screen?
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
      The medication helps though...

message on screen is load paper.

since tray does not rise makes sense for press to say load paper

              That would do it.

For those that have not seen this before, it's desirable to turn OFF the power, before poking metal implements around in connectors. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

The female connector will be on the inner back frame of the paper deck. One or more of the trays will need to be removed to access it. Keep in mind that those trays are heavy all by themselves, so remove the #50 of paper before attempting to lift it.

It's preferable to use a non-conductive implement for poking around in connectors, if you have one. Also check the male connector on the back-side of the tray. Paper can be wrapped around it, the housing may be cracked from slamming, or the conductors can be bent. I've had to replace a couple of those connectors (male & female) just for that reason. We've even had to shim the connector on the rear frame to make it connect better.

You won't be able to tell much until you get it dis-assembled. =^..^=

I bought the press second hand i unfortunately dont have manuals,. There are also no error messages except load paper message on the screen which makes sense why the drawer does not rise.

have you checked the sensors on the feed assy?
i still suggest swapping to see if the issue follows the feed unit.

after some digging around, i found this sensor to be mis-aligned ... so since the machine is old and the sensor doesnt snap back to where it should be i resorted to some hot glue.

so now it is back to normal... time to replace paper tray, this machine has 8m impressions. looking for an LU202 if anyone has one

You should have no problem finding a Sharp73 photointerrupter. They're used in many different devices. =^..^=
