You should start looking for firmware for your model IR1018.

Is this a variant of the IR1022?

If so, then I have had 2 give me that symptom. I am working from memory here, but there is a jumper under the CMOS battery on the controller that you can short to get out of download mode.
I will look it up when I get a chance to fire the work laptop up.

              imageRUNNER 1023iF / 1023N / 1023

Machine powers up and Download Mode is displayed

Short the two pins at JP141 on the Image Processor Board. This can be done
with a screwdriver or an alligator clip.

This will reset the machine so system software can be re-flashed.

short pin method could jump u out of that download screen issue
report back if issue is not fixed

                      Hello

I have an Canon IR 1018 and displays "DOWNLOAD STANDBY " when i power it on .
I have shorted out the 2 pins on the JP141 jumper an i have the same problem "DOWNLOAD STANDBY " .

At one startup it did work , and the printer started fine . After shutdown , the same problem . I pulled out the DDR card , and putted back , and the same issue.

                      Any suggestions ??

                      Thank in advance

                        same problem

                        Hello,

I'm a tech of a lab located in an happy island

We got two iR1018, one is working good, the other asks for firmware.
We checked the cr2032, is 3v+ - shorted all the JPs with no change. While shorting JP141 just skips the bad firmware and asks for flash quickly.

We got SST4.33 but we can't find anywhere the flash file (should it be 16m?), we think we can download the flash from the good ir1018, but we can't configure correctly the usb device in WinXP.

                        Anybody experienced this before?

                        Thanks a lot in advance,

We are available for answering about other electronics repair (lcd, tv, pc/nb mobos, etc)

We know this is our first post, but we just found this forum by googling and it seems very good so we just registered. We we could help, we will.

                        -added infos:
                        ddr is good
reads usb thumb drive (fat32, 1gb) --> could we load firmware from here?

I believe these models use same compatible Firmware>

                          (1) If upgrading from an older version to v60.03 (or later), the BOOT area is increased.
At the same time, the SYSTEM writing start address (FLASH-ROM) is changed.
The SYSTEM writing start address is included in the BOOT v60.03 and later, so after BOOT has completed
downloading, turn OFF and ON the power so that the new SYSTEM writing start address is reflected.

Thank you very much for your detailed instructions. I'm having troubles in finding any of that firmwares. Also, I can't find usb drivers (I think they are in the firmware disc)

Does anybody know where can I download the firmware?
