    MP C307

    Hello, all.

Lost 1 to Lost 3.....are you lost, too?

Joking aside, if you haven't figured out already, I'm lost.

My new (to me) MP C307 was finally delivered to me yesterday.

I spent a couple of hours messing with it last night, in utter excitement. A new toy!

I'm having many issues with it getting to connect and communicate to everything. I think at this point that I've changed so many settings, so many times, that I wonder if I will ever get this silly thing to work!

I have the MP C307 connected with an Ethernet cable directly to my wireless router. Well, the MFP doesn't seem to be connected to the Internet. I've messed with the router and network settings to try to allow for the MFP to connect, but I don't truly know what I am doing.

Also, I can't seem to get the Bluetooth or the NFC to work on the machine. I manipulated the settings to enable those functions and now I have two error messages, stating that the Bluetooth is inactive and that the NFC device is not working.

I bought this machine because it is identical to one that I use at work and I love it. I also bought this machine because I'm so freaking sick of paying hundreds for ink.

Anyway.....I guess my whole point is that I have a desktop computer, a modem, a wireless router, an iPhone 11 Pro, a laptop, and now this Lanier MP C307 and I'm just trying to get it to all jive and have no idea where to start. I have a complete new appreciation for the IT guy(s) that setup the machine at work!

    Thanks in advance!

      Re: MP C307

Just wanted to give an update.

After hours of many failed attempts of getting the machine up and running, I tried something that I had yet to - I swapped out my wireless router. upon doing so, all of the how-to videos and forums that I had been watching worked like a charm. It was a simple step-by-step process once I made this change. I have no idea what was keeping the other router from working properly, but I'm just so glad for this breakthru.

I now have the machine configured to my home network and I am able to wirelessly print from my desktop computer, laptop, and two smartphones.

I am also able to scan to a specified folder on my desktop computer and my laptop. The one and only thing that I have yet to figure out is how to get the scan-to-email function to work. That is the one thing that by following the how-to instructions that has been unsuccessful at this point.

      Thanks!

With modern security standards, you may not be able to get scan to email working with a consumer email account.

In no way do I doubt what you're saying but what do you mean by "consumer" email account and can you explain it further? If I ever run into this it would be good information to know. Thanks.

A consumer email account is one without a custom domain name: think gmail, outlook, yahoo, or an ISP email. More and more providers are moving to MFA and taking away the ability to use SMTP AUTH, which most MFPs still require without giving access to an admin portal to allow it.

Also, depending on what you're scanning you may be putting data out that you wouldn't necessarily want being accessed by a free email service's provider. The TOS for a free email and a hosted business email are very different in terms of the privacy afforded. It's easy enough to just buy a domain name and sign up for a low price business account and have it host email for that domain name, even if it's just your own name as the domain.

Create a Gmail account then, turn on 2 step authentication & use the app password to authenticate.

This does not surprise me one bit!

This was the exact method that I followed, but to no avail. There is a very helpful video on YouTube for the MP C307 and how to set up scan to email and I followed it to the letter. I don't know why it isn't working. (Ricoh Copier Printer Scan To Email Setup-The Right Way! - YouTube)
