    [Dead] Z2100 firmware issue

Old HP designjet Z2100 any help would be much appreciated.

    Product number Q6677A 44"
    Disk capacity 40GB (IDE)
    Firmware TR8-TR_6.0.0.7

Background: Printer was working and I had the bright idea of backing up the hard drive as it was getting long in the tooth.
Powered down the printer, removed formatter board, removed hard drive and plugged into a USB to IDE interface, tried to image copy and it failed with multiple CRC errors.
Put it back onto the formatter board and back into the printer, to my dismay printer failed to boot.
When I removed the formatter board one of the heatsinks on the board was very very hot to touch.

Removed hard drive and reinserted formater board to see if it would get hot without hard drive. It did not.
Formatter board has a single square type USB and ethernet port.If I plug an ethernet cable into the board no link or activity lights illuminate..

Have I fried the HD and or formatter board ? Any suggestions ?

Has anyone got a disk image I could obtain to at least test a different harddrive ?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Re: Z2100 firmware issue

Would be useful to know what error the printer is giving when you attempt to turn it on. It should give something on the display.

You can get a replacement hard drive from LPS Computer. Designjet Z2100 | HP Z2100 Parts | Hewlett Packard Z2100

The hard drives are specifically designed/encoded/made to be difficult to copy. But trying to just read it should not have caused a problem. I don't know, never tried.
