C284e Print quality issue. Advise please.

Hello everyone,

I have a c284e that will not print properly from the computer, my phone, or usb. The colors are way off and very poor quality. Grays are waste toner brown, teal is blue. all the colors are just off.
It will make great copies from the document feeder though.

Before I realized it would make great copies from doc feeder, I swapped my developing units, drums, toners, and transfer belt. Only after all that did I go to my clients for an original and run it through the document feeder.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

you didnt mention any type of cleaning or calibration or driver being used or if USB printing is better than from PC.
i really dont have enough details to help.

fwiw, id copy the address book and stuff with usb backup and i'd initialize at the very least the network portion of the system if not the whole data and restart

Thank you so much for your reply. I did mention that it does not print good quality when printing my computer, my phone, or USB.. Great quality when using printing from the glass, or doc feeder. I did not clean any of the optics. and I don't really know which calibration procedure to perform. Please forgive me, I am not a copier tech. I have a technical background from working on aircraft avionics, and that is why I was confident in swapping out the developers, drums, toner and imaging belt. I did not do any calibration procedures either.

understood but fwiw when it copies fine but prints bad its logically not an issue with parts at all so swapping really didnt address the issue which is printing.
printing process goes through other boards copying does not and sometimes they hiccup.
i would almost bet money that if you did a network initialization it will fix the issue. it still needs a calibration mind you but as far as the printing being so much different than copying i believe the issue is electronic not physical.
im gonna bend my own rule and send you the service manual so at least you can see the proper care and maintenance of the machine.

if you want to try initializing the network portion or the whole machine for S&G i/we can advise.

i sent you the movie data too if you decide to try to initialize the whole system you will need movie data to stop a silly message after resetting it.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Honestly I just did not have a good original until I went to my clients office and he printed me one. The moment I came back I ran it through the document feeder and it copied perfectly. I do appreciate your help and you taking the time to offer me guidance and advice. Thank you so much.

If you can post a sample print of the issue, the demo page test page for example, we're all familiar with that, then I bet you will have the answer to your issue pretty quickly.

Also attaching a scan of the original document from my client with the gray and teal boxes and the 2nd page is the way my printer printed it. Seems like my scan is a little faint though.

what is the problem though? everything looks fine to me.
the last doc showed 2 different documents.
just do a toner refresh, background data initialize, stabilize, run all gradation adjustments 3 times and hit start at the end to do a final stabilization after the gradations.

please be clear when outlining the quality issue because every page looked fine.
andmake sure the proper driver is being used.
you can also take the original pdf, not a scan, put it on a usb drive and print it from the usb in the panel that will eliminate computers or a driver as the culprit.

Here is my test page.

It doesn't look fine though. I scanned in the original document and how my printer printed it.. Hard to tell because the scan image is so faint but the printed image colors absolutely do not match the original when I print from computer, phone or usb. I will try your recommendations.

attached are photos of the prints. The photo with the very gray and almost teal boxes is how it is supposed to look. The one with the brown boxes, and blue are how it is printing from my computer, phone, or usb.

Initialize and stabilize. Then check quality. If out do gradation adjustment.

I don't understand. One is in English and one is not.
These are 2 different documents.
I'm just not seeing a true comparison since the 2 documents are different.

I'll step back and let someone else help because I'm just not getting it.
