    C558 error C3102

    Hello, some help with c558.

When I do a reset, I can hear the machine grinding gears. The gears on the fuser are really hard to turn, and there is a white button on top. I am not certain what this does. Anyway, I am not sure if it's the fuser or something else. I can't find where to run the motor test in service mode. Can I run the motor test without the fuser?

Remove the side covers of the fixing unit and you will see the gears. Almost 100% you will have one or more with broken teeth, that is the problem, and it is very common if the fuser is old.

I did open it, did not see any broken gears, I will replace the unit, but I am afrid there might be broken gears in the printer.

Replace the fuser and you should be good.

you'll probably find the bearings/bushings on the cleaning roller have seized, it's a known fault - there was a mod on the earlier fusers, where the bushings were replaced with bearings. newer fusers already have the new parts

Opend it and you seem to be right.

Replaced the fusor, and it worked.
