XC9235 34 incorrect media, check tray 3 guides

    I have a client with a Lexmark XC9235
They use 11x17 in tray 1, 12x18 in tray 2 and letter in tray 3, which is a high capacity letter only tray (6 reams in 2 side by side stacks).
It will print one sheet drawn from tray 3 then quits and displays the flowing:

34 incorrect media, check tray 3 guides

the separator bar between stacks is clear and not obstructed.

I have traded out the drawer and entire base unit, and the error code continues.
Lexmark support is no help, no help on you tube.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!!!

Does the machine display "Letter" as the designated size? What media type is set on the machine?
What paper size is requested in the print driver? What media type is requested in the print driver?

All these things must match exactly or you will see the 034 error.

I remember a customer printing documents scanned and sent to them via email. The senders scanner wasn't feeding very well, resulting in original sizes of 8.47" x 11.59". They didn't have any paper that size ... nobody does. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Thanks for the feedback

          Tray settings:
          Tray 1 - 11x17, plain paper
          Tray 2 - 12x18, plain paper
          Tray 3 - 8.5x11, plain paper

I will have to return to the client to check the driver settings. However, the same thing happens when i try an print multiple asset reports or demo pages from the settings menu on the machine, so i doubt its a driver issue.

Also, tray 3 is a super tray that only accepts 8.5x11, there are no paper guides to set.

In regard to the print driver, it is a small shop with a mix of Windows and Mac (half a dozen people). All are using the stock OS drivers.

Tray 3 will also support A4. Could a something be out of whack making the machine think it is A4 instead of letter?

I am not familiar with this model. Does is actaully have Size Sensing?

Settings > Device > Maintenance > Configuration Menu > Tray Configuration > Size Sensing

Seems weird it says incorrect media then to check the guides. Media to me isn't the size but the material.

            Never trust the media.
