Ricoh IMC 4500 - 5500 Toner levels not displaying / show as question mark

    Hello,

I have a few machines that are displaying as a question mark, and showing the independent toner supply message. it also doesn't show any levels when printing off config pages as it just shows a dashed line instead of squares, it also doesn't show up on the toner monitoring software.

I have disabled the independent toner warning and waited till the toner has fully depleted and then replaced it which still is causing the issue. Also had several other Ricoh techs look at the machine and to no avail the issue still persists across these machines. I have heard that it could be due to a bad batch of toner chips.

Any advice on where to go with this issue, as I am running out of ideas.

"independent toner supply" tells me there's a problem with the chip(s). Might be bad, not Genuine Ricoh or cartridges have already been used in another machine.

You will get this issue if the client is removing & shaking the toners to get more out of them or swapping toners with another device.

But I would also update firmware & the ACT version.

We did update the firmware on some of the machines and that did not resolve it, so its just to waiting to see if a new batch of toner will resolve it.

            Appreciate the advice
