[Dead] MX 3114N Blinking Green light won't turn on

    Hello.

I have an MX3114n for occasional home use.

I noticed that the machine seemed to be doing stuff at idle a week or so ago. It wasn't just quiet. I think it was making noises or clicking or flickering -something like that. I just switched it off. I tried to start the machine a few days ago and just get a blinking green light.

I have taken out the SD card and can't read it on the computer -it just says "please insert a disk" and it does this a on a different reader as well

I think it may be corrupt therefore. I can't see anywhere to buy this. Can anyone provide me with the firmware for me to try this on a different card. I am happy to pay some money for this and I think it may be the place to start before checking anything else unless anyone tells me differently

Download a free copy of hdd raw and see if that will see the sd card, from there, if the card is OK you can clone it to a new sd card, although firmware may need to be installed after.

Thanks for that. Hd raw saw the card and I cloned it to another sd card with success. I tried that in the machine and powered it back on and it still just blinks green.

Maybe the power board then? If so, do I have to get this from sharp or has anyone a spare they might sell?

Firmware may be worth a try before you order a board
on the board just to the left of the sd card are 2 switches
1 is to boot from the sd card the other for Firmware update switch this to on and see if the screen loads to update

Hdd also causes issues, for the life of me I don't know why Sharp uses Toshiba hard drives, they suck.

I'll try this as well before looking at power. I'm assuming there is nothing on the hard drive and to just swap it out and see if that does anything. Thank you

Firmware is stored on the HDD.

Firmware on the sd card and hdd? How do I check the firmware on the hdd and how do I replace that. Do I order a hdd with firmware on it from sharp?

Maybe I am missing something here but if the SD card was bad and you cloned that card, you would still have a "new" bad SD card?

Yes, part of it, the e- manual and watermark firmware is stored on the HDD, the ICU/ boot firmware is located of the SD card. If you were to install a new HDD in the machine it will format automatically but you will receive e manual/ watermark error codes.

I agree with driving lot of miles, if you have a faulty sd card and clone it to another new sd card, the cloned sd card could be faulty as well.

I would start with a known good SD card image and copy it to a new SD card.

OK. So I will start with a good known card and try that and then maybe look at the hdd. Do I need to go to sharp for this?

any sdcard of the same or bigger size will do.

You just need another card that works to copy it with HDD RAW COPY

Or you need an image of a working card.
