    [Error Code] MX 2640 F2-74

    Hi All,

We have moved into Sharp machines. I really do not know them.
We did an install of 4 MX2640 machines and I have had problems with 2 of them. We followed the setup procedure to the T and used Original toner.

The machines started up OK and loaded some toner. When we started to copy 10-15 pages to test the machines set off F2-74 error codes.

    Scrum error toner cartridge K.

We shut off the machines and replaced the Black cartridges. The machine came up with the codes again. Couldn't clear the codes any way.

    Wasted 2 Original cartridges.

What did I do wrong? How can I clear the code?

    Thanks for any input,

    Larhal

        From Sharp Search:

        1:
        Date Added 13/12/2012
        Model(s) Covered MX2600N, MX3100N, MX4100, MX4101, MX4112N, MX5000, MX5001, MX5112N
        Query F2-74, F2-75, F2-76 and F2-77
Advice Check and replace PTC assy
        2:
        Date Added 08/08/2011
        Model(s) Covered MX2310U, MX2610N, MX3110N, MX3111U
        Query Errors C4-00, F2-74, F2-76, F2-77 after installation
Advice The unit would jam after a few copies and or go into a C code. It may also exhibit poor copies and wont calibrate.

You may also hear an electrical noise comming from the machine. The problem was due to the HVT unit not being pushed all the way into its plastic holding locks. The board on the rear frame of the unit is held into place by plastic hooks. Once the PWB was reseated the noise went away and the unit worked perfectly. There are springs on the back of the HVT unit that need to make correct contact to provide the voltages to high voltage areas.

Advice Poor contact between TC PWB and the PTC corotron

Check the gears on the toners. I always turn them a few times by hand and error goes away.

Already tried the gears. shook the hell out of the cartridge also. all turned OK.

Cannot clear F2-74 code? What am I doing wrong?

Did you read the above posts, stating it was the PTC Ion unit or the HVPWB?

Yes I did and checked them out. I could not find any discrepancy. Keep in mind these 2 machines are new just out of the box.

                Thanks

Are you by chance moving the same toner cart from one machine to the next?
I have seen that scenario give CRUM errors.

No, we used 2 sets of new original cartridges for each machine.
