SMB scan set up for KonicaMinolta Bizhub 223

Tried setting up smb scaning on bizhub 223 and when retrieving networked pc's the machine displays error "failed to retrieve". This is the secound time for me to setup smb scaning witch my first setup was ok. The office network is Domain controled. Does smb work on domain network.

Whenever there is a connection error, try imputing the IP address instead of hostname. If the scan goes through, you need to enter the DNS information into the copier, even then sometimes it only likes IP

The domain can be a pain in the ass. I have seen impenetrable domains, but I am not an IT professional.

You can try to enter the domain name under the Network tab of the web interface, or try domain/username in the SMB page.

You will need to make sure that:

        1. The domain DNS is entered in correctly
        2. The NTLM version is set to V2 or V1/V2

You need the dmain DNS to tell the machine on which domain the username and password exists and you need NTML V2 to talk with Active Directory correctly when attempting to authenticate the scan.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Excuse me Owl. Can you break out these statements in a little more detail for us less educated?

I have pretty good success with Scan to SMB, but I consider most of it good fortune rather than skill. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Will try that and come back with the results.

Here it is again with me putting a little more thought into it... lol

Konica Minolta don't accept your typical Domainname\Username or username@domainname when authenticating. They rely on the DNS Domain name within the network settings so that they can add the domain name to the username. With out the DNS domain name set in to the network settings, the machine won't know the source in which the username and password have to be authicated with.

As for the NTLM version, Active Directory (which is used when creating a domain) requires the use of NTML version 2. Out of the factory, Konica Minoltas are set to NTLM version 1 which stops the device from authenticating with Active Directory properly. The is a setting that will allow the machine to authenticate with both versions which is v1/v2 and can be set by:

              1. Administrator Settings
              2. Network Settings
              3. SMB Settings
              4. Client Settings
              5. NTLM
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

I've also had certain anti-virus programs block SMB scanning or printing. In this situation I'll temporarily turn off the anti-virus to prove that SMB is possible. I'm some sort of exception is required in the anti-virus, but that's up to the customer to figure out. =^..^=

it's also worth mentioning you need to have the correct share/ security settings around the scan folder i have had a few instances where i would get "Server Connection issues" because the security settings were tightened although my username and password, DNS and NTLM versions were correct
