    Electronics

Think its a good idea to start an electronics thread. Hope there are guys here interested in this stuff.

Anybody ever used copier electronics for something useful?

Here is the first part of an ozone generator i am making from a HV transformer found on a KM B601.
Got it up to 3.5KV i guess. More KV would be nice.

Anyone played with HV supplies before?

    Whatever

    Cool Re: Electronics

Heh made a fully functional elevator model from scratch about 6 years back.
Making the PS for it was actually not really hard but making the parallel cables
and programming the integrated chips was a pain in the ass.
If i get the chance il send you a pic from a wah pedal i made from scratch for my guitar
using some parts from our beloved MFP's.
My father would love to join these kind of discussions

I don't like the new copier I just bought. It says "put face down" but every time I do it, it blinds my eyes.

Did you have call buttons and a COP(car operation panel)? Would like to see this thing.

Before i got stuck in this job. I use to draw and manufacture elevator components.
Where did you get the idea from?

    Whatever

Nice. Did you use the mechanics from finisher lift?

I had quite a few put aside from old Kyo 6030 finishers to use for PV panels project and glass house ventilation, left it all in previous job. Time to restart the project.

I don't think I should comment here as the closest thing I've made was a travel mirror out of a dead HDD.
People asked me why, and I didn't have a good answer.

    Re: Electronics

Two come to mind. I don't think any of these things really qualify since they're basically mechanical devices:

I made an automated tea infuser. It uses the two Canon primary wire cleaner motors and two DPST switches to drive Mita lens reduction gears. It drops the mechanism into two teacups then cycles once per second vertically ~40mm. I wanted to be able to preset a timer in which the machine would retract from the cups, but never did figure that part out. The device has been in service for 20 years of daily use, with only 1 motor failure and one switch failure.

Inertial brake light: I used 9 Mita reed switches inset in a PVC housing.. When you brake or accelerate the inertia moves a counterweight, swinging a magnet past an increasing number of reed switches. Each reed switch is wired to an increasing number of LEDs. So the harder you brake or accelerate the more LEDs light. It served two purposes as far as I can tell. 1) as a warning to following vehicles. 2) as a personal reminder to drive in a more restrained manner, minimizing the hard stops and starts. (It's still around here someplace.) =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
