Sounds like the ccd unit is ever so slightly out of adjustment. Try turning the screw to adjust the front elevation a eighth of a turn one way or another. Check to see if improves or worse. If worse go opposite. Have seen this on a couple of these models, only ours would error scanning period. Adjusted ccd and took care of issue.

      1) Throughly clean the scan lamp reflectors and replace the lamp if neccessary.

      2) Upgrade firmware to latest version.

Omens is right. The newer firmware version increased the error detection time of the E7-11 error for that machine.
        Hope that helps !

I had the same problem. Sharp had a tech tip that said to replace the CCD unit. After i changed the CCD unit everything worked good.

We had the same problem with one. The firmware upgrade did the trick.

oeshuron is right about the firmware update. I had to replace the CCD unit even after trying the firmware update.

"this is the description of the firmware update from Sharp:
The new ROM Versions are listed below. MCU Version: 2.05 (No Change) IMC Version: 3.00 (No Change) PNL Version 12.00 (No Change) Fax Version 2.14 (Changed) For FAX (From June 2007) In 2007, the United States has changed the dates of its daylight saving time observance. Engine (From December 2006) The operating margin for occurrence of E7-11 error (Shading trouble /White correction) has been increased. Since the E7-11 error may occur due to fogging of the reflector, the E7-11 error detecting level has been decreased."

                  good luck
