I remember my dad told me "do not crank the handle" with your thumb around the handle; a back fire would take your thumb off!

I'm a little too young to remember this, but my buddy tells me that when they were still plowing with the Ford Model T's, you were to cup your hands around the crank. Never wrap your thumb around the crank. That handle could knock you on your ass, and often did. =^..^=

I had a '64 Dodge Dart with a push button tranny.

You flipped a small lever to the right to put it in Park.

The zephyr i mentioed earlier on had the exact same push button type automatic transmission like this one. Your car in this video KenB.
The world without YOU TUBE would be different. Learnt and seen so many things there and things have not seen in ages.

64 and prior, torquflite transmissions were pushbutton. 65 brought the standard shifter. also I believe the pushbutton trans may have been iron instead of aluminum but not real sure about that.

What about your electric billing. remember seeing the bill in this format only and not knowing what all those numbers meant. this was about in the 70's or so. punch cards.

I've worked on those early in my career; had a service call about the machine always putting an extra space at the end. After checking machine out, I had the female operator demonstrate how she was entering the info. All was good until she leaned over the keyboard to check her work - yes, she had ample breast hitting the space bar. Blushing to a deep red, I had to explain 'where' the problem was.

I remember starting the old model T tractor( Fordson?) and plowing the fodder paddock for my uncle.
I believe they where kerosine start and then you manually switched them over to diesel.
You had to pull the decompression lever and wind the crank handle until you found TDC. Then crank like heck an hope it did'nt kick back and take your hand off... And they did kick back. I was only a small lad an I would jump up in the air to push the crank handle down with all my weight to get the crank moving. I remember a sore hand a few times from moving the crank to slow.

Well i had a yamaha xt175 semi trail bike and cranking you would get kick back that was nasty. I later upgraded to a yamaha xt500 semi trail and the kickback from those were bone breaking stuff. awesome bike, but hated it for the cranking. The 175 was just a nice bike to get around. have not rode a bike in years and don't know if cranks are still the norm. this was about 35yrs ago and bike technology may have improved quite a bit by now. must go to a bike store some day.

I always liked the odor of ozone that would come out of tube radios or TVs.

I'm a too young for tube radios and tvs, but I remember the CRT TV's growing up, the static that would be on the glass.. I had one memorable experience as a kid when I was tasked to clean the big 32 inch Sharp using Windex and a rag.

I remember having to go outside and manually turn the antenna. Getting one of those things that did it for you was awesome.

Learned how to fix those keypunch machines over 40 years ago. Even had a hand punch to make diagnostic cards for the verifying machines. Kept the hand punch for years and used to put a random punch in my electric bill and mail it back that way.

I've seen one of these little turntables way back ... must have been from the 50's. I understand that they worked about as poorly as you would expect. =^..^=
