The biggest problem with this is that it would forever change the value, position, and statue of the Supreme Court. The court could theoretically continue swelling with each and every shift in government… thereby acting as an extension of Congress as opposed to an independent body. The Supreme Court is designed to move slowly than the people, however, if Congress were to be able to inflate the number of justices with each election…then the very power of the court would be forever diluted.

After all it's what the Republican Senators did in 2016.

Over recent days President trump has vocalized multiple times that he will not accept the result of the election should he lose.

There are Republican plans afoot to essentially create a coup in the USA by tossing out all ballots as a hoax and win via the electoral college. The electoral college will be stuffed with voters sympathetic to Trump. Any challenges to this potential rigged election would have to be decided by the Supreme Court. A Supreme Court that Trump and Republican Senators are desperate to in balance with a rushed, sympathetic nomination.

Serious Russian plans vocalized by the White House are in place to egg voters into doubting the validity of the election system. It is unlikely the election results will certified on a single night giving time for malign state actors to sew further doubt while attempting to justify a coup.

Democracy as we know it in the USA is in serious jeopardy this election cycle.

The only way that Democrats can win this election and return the nation to normalcy is via an overwhelming majority with the aid of defecting Republican politicians who put country ahead of party.
