Ha ha ha. I went back and read the BBC report. I've been hearing people talk about "alt-right" for a while now, and really had no idea what they were referring to. According to this report, the "alt-right" isn't a white supremacist group at all. It's a group of people who are tired of being accused of racism because they aren't politically correct. The left loves to throw the word 'racism' around at everyone who disagrees with them.

I don't live in Indiana. I'm close to it, but I'm in Ohio.

Anyway, it doesn't matter where this guy is from. He goes from city to city causing havoc, because he knows it's an easy way to get people stirred up.

But if this is the guy I'm thinking of, he doesn't even care about this 'cause.' He's just after money. He knows that public universities HAVE to allow him to speak... because of our constitution. He knows that SOME of the universities will not allow him. He counts on it. So he says he wants to speak, then if a university says "no," he sues them. This entire thing is a scheme to make money. That is all.

There maybe be a couple of hundred followers who are crazy and stupid, but this is NOT a big movement in Indiana or anywhere else. I know plenty of people in Indiana small towns, as well as people from Indianapolis & Fort Wayne (I'm headed to Indy today) and I see blacks, whites, and browns working together, living together, and drinking together all the time.

Again, I don't personally know a single white supremacist. I live on the edge of a mostly white trailer park. In the trailer park, there's 1 single black kid, who's been to my house playing with my kids a thousand times. As far as I know, no one gives him any trouble. I guess it's possible people do, but just not around my kids because they know they'd get whacked, but as far as I know, none of that goes on.

I'm sorry, you're not going to convince me that white supremacy is alive in America.

I mention the kid who lives near me because some of the people in this trailer park are about the white trashiest of white trash you can find. Plenty of drugs and crime going around. And even in that cesspool, there are no white supremacists.

We were just talking about how to spot a racist yesterday. One way is when you hear someone start a sentence with the phrase "I'm not a racist...". I know hundreds of people who are not racist and they never user that phrase. Kind of like you never hear truly smart people say how smart they are. people who brag that they are smart, really are not very smart at all.

I have never really spotted someone who was considered political correct, who would be thought of as racist. They may be annoying, but not racist. You would need to provide an example on that one. As far as spotting them, you can judge people by the company they keep. Trumps policies seem to have drawn some of the most racist supporters in the country. It is true that not all Trump supporters are racist, but everyone I know that I would consider a racist, is a Trump supporter. He could make public statements that would distance himself from these groups and could make policies that would cause them to no longer support him, but he chooses not to. Maybe because those statements and policies would cause him to lose support among his non racist supporters.

Our genius of a president was the only human not smart enough to condemn nazi's after Charolettesville, saying there were good people on both sides. there are not good people on both sides. If you stand behind a nazi symbol, you are a racist and a piece of shit.

Along those same lines, people who claim the confederate flag is about heritage, not hate. Bullshit. Ask anyone who makes that claim to tell you about their states history in the 1800's and you will get a blank stare. Robert E. Lee, who would be considered by many to be the face of the confederacy, stated that the confederate flag was the flag of treason. He stated that at his funeral, he would not be buried in his uniform, but in a plain suit and people who attended were not allowed to wear the confederate uniform. Ask any of those heritage people if they are aware of that fun fact.

Also when white supremacist march in places in Europe where it is illegal to display the nazi flag, they often use the confederate flag as a substitute. nuf said...

I don't think Trump supports anyone who would fly a Nazi flag. I personally don't think I've ever seen an actual nazi flag except in the news when they're reporting these "protests." I happen to think if people ignored them, they'd die out.

I don't really understand the confederate flag. To me, it's always meant the southern-boy-attitude. I don't know, because I'm a northerner--but it's never really meant racism to me. I don't really care if it's there or not. If someone wants to waste a bunch of time complaining about it, they're welcome to it.

Again, I don't know any white supremacists. But I know plenty of racists. I've gotten my ass whooped several times in high-school for being white. So my experience with racism seems to be a lot different than everyone else's.

Using that one criteria to pick out a racist doesn't seem like the most accurate method.
A racist is someone who believes their race is somehow superior to other races. They usually base their superiority on something ridiculous like the colour of their skin.

It seems to me, by your quick description, that your experience with racism is exactly the same as everybody else.
There are a couple different views on whether to ignore racism or to shine a light on it. One view is if you ignore it, it can build in secrecy and get stronger. The other view is if you shine a light on it, it can become enticing to certain people and thus become stronger.

The Democrats under Senator Schumer deliberately "caved" on their Gov't weekend "Shut Down" position to cause as little harm as possible to everyone involved while making a symbolic statement that on Feb 9 if the the Republicans do not move towards an acceptable solution more shutdowns are possible.

President Trump is now under pressure to clearly describe his position on DACA and produce a budget that can pass both Congress and the Senate.
