[Annoying] Spring hooks push pull style

Ok I searched and couldn't figure out a place to post this .. I'm sure I did it wrong

I usually buy our spring hooks from Precision Roller, but the last batch were just junky. Way to thin and flimsy to use, I could bend both ends easily by hand. I sent an email to my Katun rep, they sell the same flimsy spring hooks (made in Pakistan if you were wondering). But he did offer to beat Precisions price even though Katun was a buck eighty six more to start

Anyway, any of you guys have a good place to purchase nice substantial spring hooks like they used to sell in the good ol days? I'm down to my last good one and I keep it squirreled away out of sight so none of the guys try to hide it ... They like messing with me haha!

Was given a GOOD springhook from an old tech at one of our accounts years ago. Still use it to this day (just used it today).

I've got two dental picks that I keep on me in case I need them. I use then every now and again. Could have used the one today working on a plotter, but left it in the car due to the plotter being in a jail! The less you bring in, the easier it is to get past security.

They are croquet knitting needs. Purchase any amount you like from arts or clothing material shops.

Are you talking about capture hooks or regular spring hooks?

I do notice that you used to not be able to bend the springhooks from Precision Roller. If you tried, they'd break instead of bend. That's because they were using hardened steel. The ones I bought a couple of months ago bend out of shape, and I can bend them back into shape.

Last year, I bought a forge to start making knives. I'm thinking of using some high-carbon steel to make one of my own spring hooks. I'll let you know how it turns out.

This is one of my home-made efforts. The smaller is a standard, pretty strong spring hook. The larger is made from 1/2" threaded rod, 12" long and case hardened. I made it for fuser springs that tend to break those wimpy spring hooks:

Ames Supply Com. is certainly missed, but there is a place I have ordered hooks and such it's called Tecra Tools out of CO. They have tool box's and most everything for a technician. Tecra Tools Tool Kit Experts, Custom Tool Kits and Tool Cases for Pros. Hope you find what your looking for that's satisfying and of quality.

And they wonder why I lose my patience and yell at some of our more ham fisted techs.

I buy two sorts in, cheap and nasty for the techs that keep losing them and much better quality ones for the better techs that appreciate and value superior tools.

My own spring hook was donated by a Xerox tech from a rival company who was foolish enough to leave it behind at a customers. However my prize one is one that was made for me from a bicycle spoke by a now retired tech who was a fitter and turner by trade. It's a real piece if craftsmanship.

Did a quick search and found this website. Has several different style spring hooks . Looks like "g" is the nice old IBM style push-pull spring hooks.
