There is absolutely no reason to burn fossil fuels at all....

Here in Australia there is a national boycott ready to happen where people are set to boycott fuel/gas stations in protest of the skyrocket fuel prices at bowser.
60,000 people have signed the partition so far, and are ready to buy fuel from one fuel company only every week/month. The people will have their say and literally break the fuel company's where it hurts the most "at their wallets".

When there is only one fuel company left, watch the nation wide protest rallies for hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen ICE motors...

Alt-clean energy systems are going to happen in the future any way, regardless.

I wonder if Geo-engineering, is helping or worsening the situation? I listen to science Friday with Ira Flatow, Science Friday, and he hosted a show where they were talking to a guest, who is a Geo-engineer/scientist, about experimenting with chemicals that they disperse from airplanes, to reflect back some of the solar radiation, to in turn lower earth's temperatures. However, IMHO... I think this form of experimentation could have more consequences, than advantages, long term.

Spraying chemicals from air craft to solve the pollution problem of (shall we say) "solar absorption" is equivalent to people throwing stones at the ocean to hold back the incoming tide. Seriously how many band aides can science place on an open wound?

From an authoritive/control faction point of view:
Look! here is some money!. Throw and add on TV, tell people Santa Claus is bring free gifts that will solve the Earths pollution problem, and for everyone to forget about the earth pollution problem and go back to sleep. Any one that believes smog pollution over cities is normal needs a stiff upper-cut to the chin to be brought back to reality. There is a solar absorption problem, and there needs to be a full world wide attention placed on the industrial situations an address the critical issues. There is enough crowd sourcing and crowd funding to bypass any greedy financial control institutions and direct funds into critical alt-energy industries.

As can be seen this year from both Hurricanes Florence and Michael, once in a 100 year destructive weather events are now happening every year in the USA.

It is ironic that only two days after United Nations released their 2018 Climate report warning about the increasing dangers of climate change and specific dangers to North America that Hurricane Michael strikes the Florida panhandle with a force not seen in 100 years.

Record all time high temperatures in some locations, with more extremes on the way.

The heat wave high temperatures will bring storms in their wake.

On the opposite side of the globe to Australia, I'm guessing there would be complementary extreme low temperatures.

Opposite side of the Earth checking in - you are correct. Single digit temps here (F) overnight, but believe it or not the big snows to date have been south of here (13 inches of snow 40 miles south of here two days ago to be exact). There's only been about two inches of snow here so far.
Then again it is winter, that's just what happens.

It's amazing that anyone believes that 4/100th of 1% of an inert gas in the atmosphere is having a global catastrophic effect on temperatures. Co2 is NOT the problem!! Of course none of the climate scientists are going to admit that, because there's some "Fat Money" handed out by the government to study "Climate Change"!! All of their models and predictions have been 100% wrong....so to make up for it, they've started adjusting historical temperature readings downward, just to make their climate models work!! It's probably the biggest money grab in the history of man, since the advent of the Income Tax!!

Now.... If you're talking about Sulfur Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide...I'm right there with you!! Those gases are nasty...along with ground level ozone. Those are TRUE pollutants! These are the components of smog!

(Little known fact....there is no C02 in smog!!)

Co2 is Plant Food!! We exhale it....plants take it in and give off oxygen! Elementary school science...everyone should remember photosynthesis!!

Remember when cars didn't have Catalytic Converters?? They spewed out metric TONS of garbage into the atmosphere every year. I still remember seeing pictures on Los Angeles that looked like dusk when it was actually noon, just because of the smog in the air. The Catalytic Converter took all that nasty stuff and converted it into......

Now suddenly, because Spotted Owl Gore decides to shorten the name Carbon Dioxide to "Carbon" (makes it SOUND dirty...) we're all supposed to send our checks and money orders to his organization to buy "Carbon Credits" and assuage our guilt for being an industrialized society??

(Little known fact... Al Gore was a "C" student in science!!)

EVERY... SINGLE.... PREDICTION.... made in Al's movie has not only NOT come true, but the opposite is happening. Ice caps back....thicker than ever. Polar bear population is up so much, the Inuit are asking for permission to kill them if they get too close to the villages. We just came off the longest hurricane "drought" of Cat 2 or higher in DECADES!!

....even their own SCIENCE works against them!! Remember the Mars Rovers?? Come to find out that when temperatures were rising on Earth, they were also rising by the same percentages on Mars! Same thing when temps were falling.

What the deniers leave out of their arguments is the reason that CO2 hasn't risen in the atmosphere a lot yet is the fact the the oceans are still able to absorb it. Once the oceans have absorbed their maximum amount of CO2, the level in the atmosphere will start rising quickly. That is when the real problems will start. That is when it becomes almost irreversible.

This is real and it happens no matter if someone prefers to bury his head in the sand.
Good thing is that the global climate changes will not greatly impact most of us till the end of our days.
Bad thing is it's like snowball, once get speed will going faster and faster.
We used to have 4 distinct seasons here when i was child, nowadays not anymore. Summer is rainy and winter there's a little snow. Same goes as well in many European countries. Yeah this is small part of the 🌎... sh.t happens, etc.
But they(natural disasters) are bigger, faster, frequent, powerful and less forgiving everywhere.
We still have chances to control this, only the clock is ticking, better not loose time...

In the 1940-50's there were a number of nuclear test done in and around the polar regions.
It has been approximately 70 years since the those nuclear tests were done.
Todate and over the 70 year period there have been approximately 2000 nuclear detonations around the entire globe.

Re. Normalized weather.
The weather extremes of today are becoming our normal weather patterns.
The next generation of children will see no such thing as climate change as the extreme weather patterns will be normal to them.

Man made smog and chemical pollution is just a side issue to extreme weather patterns.
Man still requires a concerted effort to clean up the planet. That effort requires releasing the alternative energy systems and converting coal, internal combustion, over to electrical or hydrogen power units.

Man made global pollution is real....
