The Death of a Venus - A Heartfelt Plea

    Ladies and gentlemen,

I am sure all you Ricoh trained techs are fully aware of how much of a pain in the arse the Venus is. For those of you who don't know the family names, the Venus is the MPC6000 / 6501 / 7500 / 7501. It's a lovely box. Toner belching, labour intensive, hair loss inducing piece of crap.

Now for the plea. Surely someone on the other side of the pond has one of these abominations loitering in the back of a warehouse they can execute in the most inhumane manner possible. I mean explosives. Bullets. Hammers. Fire. Water. Acid. Drop it off a roof. You name it, go for it. You have no idea of the satisfaction it will bring to those of us who have been unfortunate enough to be trained on this monstrosity.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

May be some one in Hawaii can drop one into Kīlauea. If you can, a video would be nice.

Not familiar with the machine but sounds like it could use this:

Wow! I never worked on the Ricoh box you are so fond of, but I do spend most of my time working on the machine that got crushed in the video. The frame is made of steel and the bottom plate is one steel piece that weighs between 75 and 100 lbs! That's one hell of a shredder!!

Lol. I feel your pain, or I should say I used to. The one I serviced for years was replaced by a monstrous Ricoh (Hiedelburg) production printer that we don't service. That old c6501 was a guaranteed 2 or 3 service calls a week. Worst designed machine I've ever had to work on, other than maybe a Formax inserter.

The last of our Venus poxboxes got feed into the high temp furnace at our local scrap dealer years ago and as they crumbled into a molten puddle a dark shadow lifted from the company.

You are not going to believe this!
had to go upstairs to reboot the sales copier 'cos the twossers managed to lock it up again and while I'm standing there staring at nothing in particular waiting for the HP to power cycle what did my eye come to rest on????

                sales brochure.pdf

                I almost threw up!!

Needless to say they went straight in the shredder.

The moment we purged the last of the poxboxes I purged the store of any parts for them. It hurt to throw away $$$$ of brand new parts, drums and even a complete fuser but I didn't want to risk one crawling out of the woodwork that we would have to fix. No parts, sorry, can't fix.
I did try to sell them to NeoMatrix but he just laughed at me

Ooooohh... So you we're blessed with some light reading material.

You should have taken the golden opportunity (an exalted yourself on high), to recycle the brochure while you we're sitting on the royal throne (dunny)....

Nah, wouldn't have worked, the brochures are as useless as the copier was. Printed on hard shiny paper and just like the copier all they would have done was spread the $h!t far and wide.

I was thinking in terms of the brochure getting a one-up last standing defiance by giving you a bad paper cut.....

A vieo of one of those things running normally would be a video of a machine destroying itself.
