As I believe the android Data has no bodily nervous system.
-- I'm sure that could be fixed with a firmware update.
-- I'm sure they could 3D print one.

my 1st was an IBM PCJr floppies (2) 64k RAM but I did have color monitors.
-- My first computer was a Commodore 64 with one floppy drive
-- My first "IBM Compatible" computer was a Kaypro with a 20meg HDD (can't remember if it was MFM or RLL) and EGA graphics. It had a switch (on an add-in card) that you could switch the PC's speed between 4 and 8 MHz.....yes MEGAHERTZ.

      Good times!!

Well, I never used an 'abacus', but the slide rule was used, because the hand held calculator had not hit the market yet. The 'core memory' and the hugh Bus and Tag cables for the main frame were seen everyday. I was trained on the CIC, and the Memorex tape drives; and a control unit that had a 6 platter 10 or 12 inch HDD. Entering commands via a two bank of four switches; cannot remember that control unit.

When subscribing to the info-companies you give up your rights, an allow the info companies to use your personal photos.

What is to prevent the info companies from using your childs or spouses photos in soft or hard core porn adverts, and worse? There are plenty of vocal complains on the internet with a persons face superimposed on celebrity's naked body and visa versa. What is to prevent a person manipulating a CGI photo and placing that person hanging out of an animal (bestiality)? People are quick to believe that everything is as they see it...

Why do people only ever rememeber the bad deeds of others, instead of all their positive attributes?
I have read of a few instances where photos from social media were then used in ads, dating etc. without the person knowing. They or someone they know have stumbled along it. I think a photo of a child was also used for some ad about toys or something.

Not a fan of modern technology, I think there will be a day of reckoning somehow. Too much of our daily lives and infrastructure are based around modern technology not ever failing. I see the benefits with medical breakthroughs, but the willy nilly way all this stuff is tossed in a heap leads to so much waste and redundancy. I had a old printer/scanner worked fine until it was time to upgrade my PC and the device was no longer supported. The company spent more time and money developing a new product to sell instead of developing support for a existing and working product. I see how it advantages the manufacturer, more sales, but think of all the waste of resources. Think of every industry where this is the case.

Modern techno is supposed to be more efficient, but at a huge cost most people including CEO's do not consider or even seem aware of.

Heh heh, I read this and actually remember being taught to use a slide rule in high school. I imagine they still work fine, no batteries required.

                When it comes to A.I.
I remember seeing about how the military was planning on implementing A.I. for part of their operations, don't remember exactly how. And as was already mentioned, A.I. continues to advance to the point that some seem to becoming self aware.

Has no one in the A.I. industry seen any of the Terminator movies????? Cause I say we leave A.I. where it is currently at and maybe even give it some old firmware to drop it back a few steps since we may already be past the point of no return.

What, and stand in the way of progress? Turning over all aspects of our lives to computers and technology is the smartest thing we have done. What could possibly go wrong? I wonder what Stephen Hawking thought of AI? Hmmmmm.....

A.I. an the Line of Reality:

What scares the living crap out of me, each new generation of children plays computer game shootem-up bad guy on a home computer screen. Those generations of children become emotionally numb/separated due to continually seeing the pixilation of characters on a computer screen. Those same generation of children become the next generation of soldiers who use the same computer screens to attack real characters on a computer screen.
The whole emotionally disconnected fantasy and reality shootem-up bad guy becomes blurred on their computer screen. Oops sorry I just Nuked an entire town. Was that a real town or a computer simulation today? Oh well, who gives a sh!t anyway, I'm still protected behind my computer screen, I get to go home an sleep peacefully sound tonight.

Reminds me of the book/movie Enders Game. In the end what the kids thought was nothing more than a simulation turned out to be a real annihilation. The older group in charge knew that as long as they believed it was nothing more than a simulation that they would do what ever it would take to 'win the game'.
