An interesting video from Vice about Huaweii.

    YouTube

Huaweii seems to be at the center of the USA China trade war with President Trump effectively banning their products from sale in the USA.

Four Canadians remain six+ months in the China jail system as retaliation for cooperating with the USA on an extradition request for a senior Huaweii executive who is accused of defrauding multiple US banks for banned financial transactions trading with Iran.

Chinese President Xi Jinping stated today at a public rally that "China is embarking on a new long march" that has been interpreted as a clear sign that China is not going to cave into USA trade demands anytime soon.

Xi Jinping says China is embarking on a '''new Long March,''' signaling no end to trade war soon

Early June is the last possible date that good shipped across the Pacific ocean arriving in US ports would not be subject to increased US tariffs.

With no trade talks scheduled, it now seems a certainty that many prices to US consumers and businesses will soon start to increase including copier/ printer product.

Ricoh just last week announced plans to relocate all A3 copiers production in China destined for the USA would be moved to Thailand to hedge against the risk of the USA China trade war.

When asked both Xerox and Canon said they are following the situation closely.

Canada announced today that all retaliatory tariffs with the USA has been dropped as a response to the USA dropping all steel and aluminum tariffs against Canada.

Canada demanded these tariffs be dropped as a precondition to signing the new USMCA (NAFTA) trade deal.

Starting to notice an increase in pricing on products from China.

Do Not Doubt Trump's Tariffs On All 'Made In China' Goods

If you think tariffs will not be imposed on everything China exports to the United States, well ... think again. They are going up. That is the best bet. Making investment decisions based on a pending trade deal is a fool’s errand and not wise for the prudent investor.
On Thursday, Nomura Securities gave 65% odds that 25% tariffs on an additional $300 billion worth of Chinese goods will go into place by the third quarter.
As it stands, the U.S. Trade Representative is reviewing the legalities of those tariffs and will hold public hearings on them in early June. For sure, companies heavily impacted by those tariffs, like Apple, which accounts for roughly 90% of all China smartphone exports to the U.S., will be sending its people to Washington to lobby for waivers.

Ready for More Expensive Guac, Beer and Cars? How Trump's Mexico Tariffs Could Affect You
President Donald Trump on May 30 issued a new threat to slap tariffs of as much as 25% on goods from Mexico, an escalation in his trade war that would raise the prices Americans pay for avocados and tequila.

Autos are by far the largest category of Mexican-made products sold in the U.S., and top manufacturers from Audi AG to Volkswagen AG produce vehicles in the country. Oil refineries in Louisiana and Texas, as well as builders reliant on imported steel, could be hit.

June 01 2019 is the last possible day that goods shipped from Chinese ports arriving in the USA could escape tariffs.

ESP USA, the makers of a popular surge suppressor line, sent out an email yesterday, that as it sources many components for its products from China, it was regrettably forced to add a new line item to its invoices. Tariff Fees 5%.

China releases official state document blaming the USA for the trade war and argues that this trade disruption will negatively effect the global economy.

Increasingly, officials in Beijing talk of bracing for a dispute that will last for decades!

Ricoh has publicly stated they are moving USA A3 production to Vietnam. Both Canon and Xerox have stated they are closely monitoring the situation.

I speculate that all copy/ print vendors have begun plans to diversify their manufacturing facilities outside of China.

Foxconn, a Taiwanese company and the majority owner of Sharp Corp has bought a large plot of land in Wisconsin. Who knows maybe they will be inspired to manufacture Sharp copiers there.

Sharp CEO Tai Jeng-wu told reporters today that sales will likely fall 1.4% in the current business year due to the China USA trade war.

HP manufacturers some MFPs and printers in Mexico. If President Trump follows through with his new 5% escalating to 25% tariff on Mexican imports this could negatively effect sales due to higher costs pad by USA consumers.

Many USA Republican Senators do not back Trump on the Mexican tariffs.

We've also noticed some of our National office-supplies Suppliers are starting to bump up prices on certain goods that are tied to the tariffs. Our salesman are on alert now.

Sharp confirmed today that production of personal computers destined for the USA will move from China to Vietnam sometime around Oct 2019.

Sharp exited the laptop business a few years ago so production was at a low point.

Sharp has also acquired a license to use the Toshiba brand name on new laptops models.

Sharp also stated they plan to move copier production from China to Thailand around Oct 2019.

President Trump met with Chinese President Xi-Jinping on Saturday at the G20 meeting in Japan.

Although positive language was exchanged, for the foreseeable future, the 25% tariff on copier/ printer products originating in China entering the USA will remain.

The 25% tariff remains applied to a great many other products as well.

No new tariffs were announced and China will resume the purchase of some USA agricultural products.

Frustrated by the lack of any progress in the USA China trade war, President Trump stated that on Sept 01 2019, a new 10% tariff will be imposed on virtually all of the remaining $300 billion dollars worth of imported goods from China.

Dow drops 280 points, giving up big earlier gain after Trump says US adding more tariffs on China

The Chinese promised to buy more USA agricultural goods and stop the deadly flow of fentanyl into the USA, President Trump claims they have failed to do so on both counts.

It seems pretty clear that the Chinese are willing to wait out the remainder of President Trump's current term in office. They hope that the next Democratic President will be more sympathetic to eliminating the tariffs that cost all US taxpayers more money when they purchase Chinese goods.

The current 25% tariff on all copier printer imported into the USA from China remains.

Many US and global corporations have made significant efforts to relocate their manufacturing capabilities away from China. Once moved, it is unlikely these manufacturers will return back to China.

Some Chinese manufacturers are dodging US tariffs by first rerouting goods to Vietnam and other countries before importing them into the USA.

Here is a look at why "trans-shipments" are on the rise and how US custom officials are struggling to stamp out the practice.
